Haayi Raave Haayi

(Telugu Poem)

Haayi raave haayi aapadalu kaayi,
Chitti tallini kaayi Shree venkataayi,
Chicchooo, Haayamma Haayi;

Haayi papayiki bangaru nagalu,
Haayi paapayiki andaala sirulu,
Chicchooo, Haayamma Haayi;

Haayi papayi ki boldanni choclateluuu,
Haayi papaayiki boldanni biscuitelu,
Chicchooo.....

(and so it goes ...)

Meaning: The author here is singing a lullaby for the baby to put her to sleep and while doing so, calls Lord Shree Venkateshwara to calm the baby and bring her lot of comfort "haayi", so she can sleep.
The song goes on to say that this "haayi" baby will have gold, beautiful wealth, chocolates, biscuits etc etc... we would get creative here, adding different things to the song!

Author: Shreedevi Rapur

Raaga's Play: This song has always had a very soothing effect on Raaga (from the day 1). She would calm down in an instant when her grandma sang it for her while holding her in her arms, gently patting on her back and rocking. We would call it her "magic mantra"!
